CONTINUITY! And Basic Logic!

This is a "The Satan Pit" Post. Possibly favourite episode(s) of Dr Who. EVER. (Sorry, Eccleston, we love you, but this was better. And it has Tennant.)
But, however, although program was great, slight problems. Well, slight. Huge. Enormous. *slaps continuity with wet fish*. Actually, now I think about it, *slaps basic logic/science people with wet fish*. I mean, first of all, in the Impossible Planet, he seems shocked that they are nearly in a black hole. At the end of TSP, he has no problem with going away from it! Slightly odd...

For the science bit, how ON EARTH (or on Krap Tor, seeing as they aren't actually on earth) do they manage to have no air going down into a ventilation shaft, which is separated from the main cabin... with grids! I mean, really. Unless they are special seal-able grids, which wouldn't make much sense.
But yes, I did love this episode. "Tell her... tell her I... oh, she knows." I wish he could just get on with it and say he loves her, it's obvious and he just need to actually admit it to himself. Would probably make Rose feel a lot better, for a start.
However, I really liked the pit, although the Beast was a bit... well, it was't as well done as Toby being evil. Evil!Toby is hugely scary and obviously evil, with a nice new twist, whereas the Beast is a bit fake and sort of cliche. I think one of the best parts was when Toby went back to being Evil!Toby and made the Ood go away. Although Mem has a point - if he wanted to get away from the planet, why send the Possessed!Ood after them in the first place? They could just have gone home... well, none of it really works, I suppose he needed some way to make them go back to Earth.
Doctor being sort of confused about what he belives was v good, though. It makes him seem more human, as he isn't just an omniscient TimeLord, he doesn't know everything and he has his limits. V cute when he was trying to persuade them to act like people instead of panicking and waiting for the Ood to get them. Best moments were (oh, I suppose I can include TIP, as well, as they are sort of the same episode) the "go on, go on, go over, go on" voice in the back of the head, the thing about not knowing whether it is ten feet or ten miles, and the whole deliberating about whether to free the Beast. Doctor in this episode was very cute, put it that way. And Rose being clever, too! I like her when she's not just sitting around and being helpless, but she's actually being a sort of Substitute!Doctor while the real Doctor is away.
Finally, loved the conclusion of the episode. "What are you two, then?" "Oh... the stuff of legends." Which they are, really. And they deserve the title.
Oh, and next episode - IT'S DANNY BLUE! EVEN THOUGH HE WON'T BE DANNY BLUE BECAUSE IT ISN'T REALLY HUSTLE, BUT STILL, IT'S DANNY BLUE! And he is really cool, and he is IN DOCTOR WHO!!
Suffice it to say, I'm getting very obsessed with Dr Who.
No, not obsessed. Dedicated.

Odd Music Thing

Stolen off a random site with a Dr Who link.
INSTRUCTIONS:
01. Put your music player on shuffle.
02. Press forward for each question.
03. Use the song title as the answer to the question even if it doesn't make sense. NO CHEATING!04. Tag 10 people to play this game too. Play if you want to!

Well... yeah, play if you like. I don't really have ten friends. *wails*

How are you feeling today?
Samwise The Brave - London Philharmonic Orchestra
So, apparently brave, but also cute and Samlike. *shrugs*

Will you get far in life?
The Council Of Elrond - Enya
I will be on... the council? That doesn't sound very encouraging

How do your friends see you?
The End Of All Things - Howard Shore
That doesn't sound good, to be frank...
Memma says: well i think we would see you as the end of all things because of the growing fear that one day you will crack and become a full time gollum, and we would see you as howard shore because it is a cool name

Will you get married?
Tomorrow - Avil Lavigne
Evidently, something's going to happen tomorrow, possibly me meeting the love of my life... but that's illegal! I'm only 15!

What is your best friend's theme song?
Punky's Dilemma - Simon & Garfunkel
Well, it's not, but it's quite a cool and whacked out song, so Memma might like it.

What is the story of your life?
The Morning Report - Various Artists (The Lion King Soundtrack)
That makes sense... I spend most of my mornings frantically finishing off homework.

What was high school like?
Hello, Goodbye - The Beatles
I'm gonna meet lots of friends, then they're going to run away?

How can you get ahead in life?
Get Back - The Beatles
I can get ahead by going back home. Doesn't everyone know that?

What is the best thing about your friends? For Emily, Whenever I May Find Her - Simon & Garfunkel
That... they all know Emilie? Or Memma?

What is in store for this weekend?
You Belong To Me - Jason Wade
This is a creepy song from the Shrek soundtrack; maybe someone is going to claim I'm in love with them

What song describes you?
A Journey In The Dark - The Lord of the Rings
Oh, thanks, iPod. Really. So now I know what you think of me..

To describe your grandparents?
The Prophecy - The Lord of the Rings
They were... a forerunner of me, and therefore a prophecy that I would come?

How is your life going?
Circle of Life - Elton John
Life is moving on like it should.

What song will they play at your funeral?
Don't Miss You At All - Norah Jones
Well, that's fairly self-explanatory. Everyone will hate me by the time I die. Great. Well, no point trying to keep up all those friendships, then.

How does the world see you?
The Shadow Of The Past - The Lord of the Rings
That I'm bringing back the past, and unhappy memories, and things people should not have done. Well, sorry guys.

Will you have a happy life?
Many Meetings - The Lord of the Rings
That's a no, obviously. Meetings are dull and boring. So I'm going to have an office job. Unless... it's meeting people in a cool travelling job, which would be good!

What do your friends really think of you?
This Land - Various Artists (Lion King Soundtrack)

How can I make myself happy?
Into The West - Annie Lennox
Go West (but I want to go east! Because the advert is brainwashing me!)

What should you do with your life?
Fakin' It - Simon & Garfunkel
Pretend to do stuff. Only way to do anything, obviously.

Will you ever have children?
Orinoco Flow - Enya
????

Yeah, a bit LotR heavy. I HAVE to put more stuff on my iPod.
Well, altogether, I'd say fairly interesting. Although it is clear that my iPod doesn't like me.

Finally, a solid attack has been made

Unknown to most of the DAQ and BA (or at least Demon Child and possibly Magical Skeetcliff, who were left out and are most upset as they would have been willing to help in any way possible), the first real Q defense site has been launched, ready to make sure everyone knows about the dangers posed by the Qs.
http://www.freewebs.com/deathtotheqs/ is the new website. It is full of useful information about the Qs, Dr Baz, and any other thing that would be helpful. Please come, join if you can (although I will note that we don't have a guestbook or an official email address yet, so joining is only from your point of view. However, we appreciate any help we can get.) The BA and the DAQ will still have the core council of founder members, but nevertheless I do believe that many more can join and help us. If it can be transferred, Memmaline will put up a transcript of the Q Awareness Film, although names may have to be changed into codenames for the safety of the DAQ.
We hope to have a blog, full website, and a fully functional email address by the end of the school year. There may even be separate email addresses for people under use of codenames, for possible use of Instant Messenger.
http://destroythering.blogspot.com/ already has a lot of information about Q defense, thanks to Magical Skeetcliff, which already contains much of the information used on the website. Some of the old posts are a little wacky, it must be admitted. And Magical Skeetcliff shares my love of Lord of the Rings, which is evident in the title of the blog.
One last note, to any who know my email address - the normal one may not be working at the moment. Sorry. It's a bit tempramental, only a couple of emails are coming through and I am aware that the rest are being blocked by one massive email, but I'm not quite sure what the problem is. I'm not blanking anyone, don't worry!
Good luck against the Qs, and keep your pins close to hand;

A loong break

Hola, amigos!
I've noticed that nothing ever actually happens. Not to me. I go to school, I follow my routine, I do my homework, and do next to nothing that makes a difference. So, maybe I'm just having a rant, but I think that a large part of this problem is due to school, and that it takes up all my time. Laura, for example, goes to parties all the time, does acting, has an interesting time (ok, maybe I wouldn't want to go to the kind of parties that she goes to, but I wouldn't mind having a go at the acting part). Whereas I have no social life to speak of, apart from going to little sleepovers every now and again, when someone has a party.
Ok, maybe Duke of Edinburgh will count as a change. I went to Cygnet Club last night, and I felt like, for once, I was actually doing something. Playing around with kids, even if it's just for fun and six-year-olds can outrun me, feels like I'm helping. I'm determined to get through to Seaorsie, (pronounce Seasha, for some reason) because she seems really unhappy and I want to help her. Well, she might be a bit attention-seeking, but she doesn't play with the other kids, and I'm a little worried about her. Maybe it's like me... I suppose you get a wider view from the outside.
And I can't complain that there's never anything I'm excited about. There's the Strings concert on the 10th, and I'm playing a Bartok duet, which is fairly easy but sounds lovely. Then we're doing songs from Les Choristes in choir (to anyone who hasn't seen it yet, do; it's a French film with English subtitles, and it's absolutely beautiful. I defy anyone not to cry at some point during it). I have to get the soundtrack for it... I'm listening to Vois sur ton chemin, at the moment, and it's truly amazing... haunting. I'm just sad I'm not a soprano, I'd get the tune otherwise. I want the soundtrack to Phantom of the Opera, too; Mum bought the DVD, and now I've got all the songs in my head.
I saw Sharpe's Challenge, too... Sean Bean is fantastic... ee! There's a horror film out with him in, too, but that looks a bit creepy for me. Flightplan was brilliant, too, watch it. I loved it, all the tension and how it ends up. Tieing in the thing about the two Arabic men was interesting as well, nice comment on the post 9/11 world. But Sharpe's Challenge; it was a bit over-violent, but what can you expect about something set in that period of time? Still interesting, nice plot twists, great acting, especially from the bloke playing Dodd. Mum said it was bad acting, but she just didn't like the violence.
Gtg, won't update for ages, but there you go. *Beth*

Back from Praha

Yes, I have been back for a while, but Prague was brilliant! We had several amazing services, with some lovely singing, especially in the synagogue in Kolin where all the Jews are dead now, but it still has great accoustics, and it was incredible to hear everything echoing. Only downside, that it managed to be colder inside there than it was outside; not quite sure how they managed that, but I assure you it was. My feet were freezing off.
Did I mention the wonderful Four Seasons Hotel? *goes off to check blog*, oh yes, I did. Well, that was wonderful. And I'm playing a Bartok Duet in the Strings Concert next term, which is going to be wonderful. Although I hope the MIV doesn't muck it up... I'm sure she won't. Knowing MIVs, she's probably likely to be some kind of musical genius who can look down on me even though I'm so many years her senior...
AP1 is done, handed in, hanging perfectly from the frame, and sketchbook is done; I might even put a picture or two up here, as I am so proud of it. Well, not now. Will return to form room in hope of Easter Eggs from various classmates. Am going to Derwyn's this evening!! YAY!!! And I get a chinese... go me!

Eye infecio

Or possible other eye malady that is very painful, nonetheless. Conjuncitivitus? Maybe. Hopefully will go to opticians tonight after school, so I don't end up going to Prague with painful eye illness. No contacts today for me, either; trying to rest it so it doesn't die. Much as I am surprised at myself, I actually want to go on this trip. It could be a wonderful, interesting, fun use of a long weekend, where I might make some friends and get to know people who I haven't been able to fit in with for a long time, or... it could go disasterously wrong and I could spend most of the time not saying anything and huddling into a corner. It's hard to believe how much I'm hoping for the former.
And, oh yes, dare I mention it, the massive Art project of which the sketchbook is nowhere near finished. I HATE my writing; with anyone else, it would look like twice as much work. V annoyed. And there is Bio coursework, and I'm going to miss yet ANOTHER lesson because of Prague. And Dakin wants a full draft of the 1250 words minimum English coursework on Merchant of Venice, by Monday, which I haven't even started... never going to get a chance to rest, ever. And there's Mother's day, which I am missing... they'd better video Planet Earth for me, otherwise I'll be very upset. Next week is going to pass in a haze of tiredness and working to midnight and beyond to catch up, I just know it. Wish me luck for Prague, if anyone even reads this anymore... *Beth*
